We wanted to provide an update on the 2024 Fall Season and registration.
As of today we are no longer going to participate in the same conference as Streator and Ottawa. After serious discussions with both leagues and other conferences. We as a board felt in order to keep the league going in an upward trajectory like we have for the last few years and in the best interest of having enough teams to play against and not continuously playing the same team
over and over again that we had to look outside the current towns we play against.
We will be joining the Big 14 Conference. The conference consists of teams from Byron, Dixon, Oregon, Princeton, Rochelle, Rockton, Sterling, and Stillman Valley.
This will also allow us to change the current formats of teams and we will now have a team at each grade level from 5th through 8th grade. This will help with growth of the program and familiarity of the kids playing together as some will now have 4 years playing together before High School.
There will be 4 home games and 4 away games for those age groups, the regular season games will start in Mid August and run till the end of September/ First week of October with playoffs the 2nd week of October. The nice thing about this is all 5th through 8th grade games will be at one location each week, if you have kids in multiple age groups for tackle no more going to different locations. Yes there will be a little father traveling for away games but from a league standpoint it was in the best interest to go this route.
For flag football 1st and 2nd and 3rd/4th we will be staying in LP or for 3rd/4th we still may play some games versus Streator or Ottawa, that is being finalized and will be provide that update as soon as possible, the Big 14 is 5th through 8th grade only so we don’t have to change much for flag football.
For registration this year it will also be slightly different with some added benefits. Here is the following information on it:
Registration for 5th through 8th grade will be $200 per child, 3rd/4th Grade will be $100 and 1st/2nd grade will be $60. Cheerleading will be $100.
Registration will close on June 1st with no late add ons, this is a hard date due to logistics of uniforms and getting them on time for season.
5th through 8th grade will include the following:
Jerseys with name on back
Football Pants
You will keep these at end of season
3rd through 4th Grade will include the following:
Jerseys with name on back
1st through 2nd grade will include the following:
Shirt to keep
Cheerleading will include the following:
Skirt, Shirt, and Bows to Keep
Poms will be provided but turned in at end of year
You will also have the opportunity to fundraise to get your league fees back. We will be doing a raffle where 2 winners till get $500 cash each. The raffle tickets will be $20 each.
For 5th through 8th grade at the first week of practice each player will be given 10 raffle tickets to sell, any money collected you will keep, you have to turn in tickets to coaches at a TBD date.
For 3rd through 4th grade and Cheerleading at the first week of practice each player will be given 5 raffle tickets to sell, any money collected you will keep, you have to turn in tickets to coaches at a TBD date.
For 1st through 2nd grade at the first week of practice each player will be given 3 raffle tickets to sell, any money collected you will keep, you have to turn in tickets to coaches at a TBD date.
If you sell all your raffle tickets that covers your registration fees. As always if you have trouble on registration fees reach out to a board member as we do not turn any kids away from playing.
With this new conference any new registrations will be limited to feeder areas for LP High School, any previous players will be grandfathered in and can play no matter where they live.

Other age groups have yet to be determined. The goal is for the head coaches to follow the kids up each year to provide continuity with the kids and parents. The Board reviews Head Coaches after each season.
